WHO WE ARE: Old House Gardens is the world’s only mail-order source devoted entirely to heirloom flower bulbs. Since 1993 we’ve been tracking down rare, historic bulbs around the world, researching their histories, recruiting small farmers to grow them for us, and sharing them with thousands of gardeners through our mail-order catalog and website. We’re proud to have earned the acclaim of The New York Times, Martha Stewart, historic sites from Williamsburg to Alcatraz, and our customers!

OUR MISSION: Our bulbs are not only tough, gorgeous, and unusual, they’re endangered. We’re working hard to save these living antiques from extinction while offering our customers the utmost in quality and customer service.

SMALL BUT GROWING: We’ve enjoyed steady growth since 1993, but we’re still a very small company. Seven of us work here year-round, with about ten more joining us during our two busy shipping seasons. In January we moved into our new “green” office in the historic barn-like garage at our owners house on Ann Arbor’s Old West Side.

VP FOR BULBS: We’re looking for someone to take the lead and work closely with Scott to:

negotiate the purchase and delivery of bulbs from dozens of our growers in the US and overseas, and to strengthen our relationships with these growers,
set catalog prices, project our bulb needs, and manage our inventory of hundreds of thousands of perishable bulbs,
direct the planting, care, and record-keeping of our large trial garden with the support of our Trial Garden Manager, and
serve as our in-house bulb gardening expert, providing guidance to both staff and customers.

WHO WE NEED: Someone who’s assertive, well-organized, fast-paced, and a self-starter. Someone with excellent people, computer, math, and retail/business skills. And someone who’s an expert, experienced flower gardener.

PAY & HOURS: We expect to pay from $15-$18/hour for a 35-40 hour week, year-round. We work 9-5, M-F, but there is some flexibility and if you need to stay home for the plumber, we understand.
